One of the many services Student Senate Provides is the funding of various on campus organizations, events, and academic projects. If you have a proposal that you are interested in requesting funding for, please read the Funding Guidelines and fill out an application below!

Funding Guidelines

  • Student Government sponsorships are available to full-time Truman students and U&I Recognized Student Organizations in good standing. Said sponsorships are designed to aid in the implementation of programs or projects that embody the mission and/or values of Truman State University based on the Rubric designed by the appropriations committee.
  • Individual students and student groups can apply for appropriations, not exceeding $650 per academic year.
  • Awards may be disbursed in any number of payments for any amount, provided that the total disbursement does not exceed the awarded amount or $650 per academic year, or additional funds are approved by Student Government.
  • The Appropriations Committee has the authority to determine the amount of funding awarded prior to review and approval by the Student Senate.
  • Appropriation Requests must be received by the seventh calendar day of each month, and the Appropriations will review and on the last regular session of the month, recommended Requests will be presented to the Student Government.
  • Any Organization or Individual who submits an Appropriations Request must send at least one member of the Organization, or the Individual themselves, to represent their Request.
  • Any Request that does not have a representative will be considered at the next designated meeting at which Requests are heard; after three meetings without a representative, the request will be considered dead.
  • Each Appropriation Request must have a fully completed application, including an itemized budget; only fully completed applications will be considered by the committee. The chair will follow up with applicants with incomplete applications to revise and resubmit.
  • Each Organization Appropriation Request must be graded by the Appropriation Rubric, and must have at least two of the two of the attributes listed in the Rubric.
  • Individual Student Requests will be considered by the same Rubric as Recognized Student Organizations
  • Applicants will be notified whether or not the application has been approved by no more than 48 hours and their graded Appropriation Rubrics shall be returned to them, when the University is in session, after funding has been requested. Requests must be for projects or programming to be implemented in the same academic year in which funding is awarded.
  • Failure to use allotted funds within 30 days of allotment or event will result in the Recognized Student Organizations and Individuals forfeiting the allotted funds.
  • All printed materials for projects or programs receiving funding from the Committee must contain the Student Government logo.
  • Students currently serving on Student Government are not eligible to receive funding as individuals.
  • Student Government members affiliated with an organization applying for funding may assist in the preparation of the application, but cannot advocate for the organization during discussion within the Appropriations Committee or during a General Body meeting, and cannot provide information beyond that provided in the organization’s funding application. Additionally, any student serving on the Student Government who is affiliated with a group that applies for funding must fully disclose the nature of the relationship in the application and whether or not they assisted in the application’s preparation.
  • Once proper disclosure has been made, as described in Section 21, Clause 8, Subclause P, these members must exit the session for the duration of deliberations on said Appropriations Application.
  • Subsequently, members of the Appropriations Committee may not evaluate Applications for Organizations they are a member of, and must abstain from evaluation.
  • If a guideline is violated or the project or program does not occur, the student or student group must return all funding to the Student Government within 10 days of written notification from the Student Government.
