Mission:

The Student Affairs committee strives to assure the fulfillment of the University’s mission in the non-academic aspects of the University community from the perspective of the Student Association. This committee actively works to: improve the quality of student life; guarantee the rights and promote the desires of the Student Association; further the enhancement of an all-encompassing living and learning environment; and assure that University policies and programs are commensurate with the best interests of the Student Association.

  • Projects:

Student Conduct Code Revisions - Recently passed a resolution in regards to the Responsible Action Policy and in response to the Sexual Misconduct policy.

Safe Rides - persisting to get a Safe Rides on Truman’s campus, currently researching sober driving programs at other institutions of higher education in Missouri.

Sodexo - allow outside food in and eliminate black out hour

SUB - continue to push for more flexible hours for students, looking into providing a RedBox for student use and Game Night!

Safety - Working directly with the Campus Safety Chair, Molly Troop, to research, create and implement a sober driving campus at Truman; other issues include dorm parking lot check-in at BNB and Dobson, researching and testing the success of emergency poles and researching zoning for on and off campus needs

*All campus discussion/forum on the resolution to ban smoking on campus. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 in the SUB Alumni Room @ 7:00 p.m.

* We will be on the mall on Friday, September 25, 2009 passing out ribbons for Sexual Assault Awareness Week, in collaboration with the Women’s Resource Center. As well as distributing literature on the modified Responsible Action Policy.
